Kay McLean has been working passionately in ECE since 1974, consistently updating with current research, theory, "best practice". Kay's aim is to promote quality care and education in ECE by inspiring Centre's and individual teachers "to be the best they can be".

Kay's personal goal is to keep abreast of current ECE regulation and legislation to support professional growth to be a meaningful and relevant procedure that encourages excellence in teaching and learning. Kay specifically aims to provide practical support that encourages individual teachers and Centre's to take responsibility for their own professional learning.

KAY CREATED THE UNIQUE SYSTEMATIC AND SUCCESSFUL NEAT PROCESS IN 2005
and continues to work on it in conjunction with ongoing changes to legislation and regulation by MoE and Teachers Council. Regulation (2020) moved the appraisal process to a professional growth cycle which sits exactly in line with Kay's successful approach.

The goal for the NEAT  Professional Growth Cycle is to inspire confidence to improve competence
not simply prove competence.
